SAAVI Fact Sheets
Masikhulisane, SAAVI’s Community Involvement Programme has developed several Fact Sheets. They are used to raise awareness about topics related to HIV vaccine research and development. The Fact Sheets are written for the lay person, in plain English and cover the following topics:

The HIV Vaccines Facilitator’s Manual
This Manual was developed by Masikhulisane, SAAVI’s Community Involvement Programme and is for use by trainers who facilitate educational workshops about the HIV vaccine research and development process. There are seven modules in the Manual. Module 1 gives guidelines for facilitators on how to run participatory workshops while Modules 2-7 are divided into two sections: Section 1 includes information for the facilitator to help develop his or her messages while Section 2 includes suggested activities to help deliver the information in a participatory way.

The HIV Vaccines Learner’s Handbook
This Learner’s Handbook was developed by Masikhulisane, SAAVI’s Community Involvement Programme for adult learners who attend the educational workshops based on use of the HIV Vaccines Facilitator’s Manual. During these workshops, participants go through modules 2-7 of the Handbook which include:

SAAVI Overheads
Masikhulisane, SAAVI’s Community Involvement Programme has developed the following overheads to deliver information on HIV vaccine research and development. These overheads are used to assist in delivering the educational workshops together with the HIV Vaccines Facilitator’s Manual and the HIV Vaccines Learner’s Handbook.
